Investigation continues into early morning home invasion/shooting

Hidalgo County Sheriff investigators told Action 4 News that a father and son were allegedly assaulted inside their located on Rambo Street around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
Investigators said the 21-year-old son was shot twice, once in the stomach and once in the leg, he is in stable condition.
His father, however, is not. Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino told Action 4 News the father was hit several times in the head with the butt of a gun.
The beating fracture his skull and left him in a coma and on life support.
"15 or 20 minutes after the home invasion we received a call that a passerby picked up another subject that had been shot one time and he was taken to a local hospital.
He is also in critical condition. We believe that that individual is one of our suspects in this home invasion."
Sheriff Trevino said they were only able to gather a few pieces of evidence from the scene.
He said the father does have a criminal record which consist of robbery and drugs"but the motive for the home invasion is still unclear.
Trevino said they have to wait until those involved have been medically cleared---before they can start asking questions.
Trevino adds, they are not sure how many suspects they are dealing with"but said it could be anywhere from two to three.
