Investigators arrest an Edcouch man in theft case
Investigators arrested an Edcouch man who allegedly defrauded the La Joya Economic Development Corporation, according to a news release.
Representatives from the La Joya EDC filed a theft report in December against Jose Angel Campos, who had been hired for a construction project.
La Joya EDC says that Campos gave money to a third party, after withdrawing funds from an account designated for the construction project, according to the news release.
After investigation, Sheriffs obtained an arrest warrant for Campos.
Campos was arrested while entering the U.S. at the Hidalgo Port of Entry and taken into custody Thursday.
Campos was charged Friday with theft, a state jail felony. A judge set his bond to $10,000.
