The life of an Iraq war veteran killed in Afghanistan was remembered today at Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya.
The pews at the church were full, and there were few parking spaces left at the mass for Javier De La Garza.
It was a traditional catholic mass involving a blessing of the casket while those closest to him said their final goodbyes.
The 27-year-old veteran's life was cut short during an attack in Afghanistan while he was working as a civilian.
Family members told Action 4 News that De La Garza was sleeping in his bunker at a military base when it came under fire, and he did not make it out alive.
Those close to the family said they are very sad to see another hero go.
