J&D Produce, Inc. recall curly parsley and cilantro

Some locally produced herbs are being voluntarily recalled after tests show they may be tainted with salmonella.

It's a voluntary recall of curly parsley and cilantro packed on November 30 and December 6 with the brand name Little Bear brand.

The produce tested positive for salmonella by regulators in Quebec and Detroit.

There have been no reported illnesses, but to be on the safe side, the company is recalling the produce.

The company's website has a statement by the president James Bassetti he said, "We have a good track record, but we'll bring our expectations and standards to even higher levels...We will do a better job, and we've already begun improving our systems."

According to the website, upon learning of the test, Bassetti ordered the shut down of production lines and re-sanitized the production lines.

The company's media relations representative told Action 4 News consumers who have bought curly parsley or cilantro packed on November 30 and December 6--with the Little Bear Brand can return the product to their retailer for a refund.

Consumers with questions can call the company 956-380-0353.
