Judge denies bond reduction for suspect in Rio Grande City teen murder case
A judge denied bond reduction Wednesday for a suspect in the murder investigation of Chayse Olivarez, a Rio Grande City teen whose remains were found on Aug. 12.
Jose Luis Garcia was arraigned Wednesday and requested a bond reduction from his original bond set at $2 million, according to Starr County District Attorney Omar Escobar. A judge denied it.
Two juveniles remain in custody in connection to the case. They await a hearing with a judge who will decide if they will be tried as adults, Escobar says.
A fourth suspect, identified as 18-year-old Salvador Martinez on Oct. 5, also awaits a hearing.
