The fate of an Mexican Mafia member accused of the 8-year-old murder of a Harlingen woman could soon be decided.
A Cameron County jury has started deliberation for the trial of Wilfred Padilla around noon Monday.
Padilla is accused of ordering the murdering Harlingen resident Jo Ann Chavez back in 2003.
Her remains were found in Willacy County.
Closing arguments were held late Monday morning.
During closing arguments, prosecutors asked jurors to give Chavez justice.
Defense attorneys focused on discrediting the state's key witnesses, many of whom were convicted in connection with Chavez's murder.
