A Cameron County jury has found a man guilty in a drug-related kidnapping and murder in Brownsville.
Abraham Parra has been on trial for aggravated kidnapping and capital murder before Judge Arturo Cisneros in the 138th State District Court.
Parra is accused of one of nine suspectsin the July 2012 kidnapping Reyes Bocanegra from the Mariscos Playa Azul restaurant in Brownsville.
Bocanegra was found shot to death in Rancho Viejo a short time later.
Both prosecutors and defense attorneys made their closing arguments in Parra's trial on Wednesday afternoon.
Jurors started deliberations late Wednesday afternoon and returned to court on Thursday morning reaching a verdict just before 11 a.m.
Parra opted for jurors to sentence him. He faces five to 99 years in prison.
