Jury finds retired pastor 'not guilty' in Bluetown girl's death

      Arturo Martinez Reyes

A one-and-a-half year legal saga ended with a Cameron County jury clearing a 75-year-old retired pastor in the death of an 11-year-old girl from Bluetown.

The trial for Arturo Martinez-Reyes ended on Wednesday.

The 75-year-old pastor is accused of running over and killing 11-year-old Valeria Garcia back in February 2009.

Jurors started deliberations Wednesday afternoon but finished on Thursday afternoon.

The jury found Martinez-Reyes "not guilty" on all counts against him.

The retired pastor testified he was on his way to teach young pastors in Matamoros at the time of the accident.
