A jury handed down a verdict to find a San Benito man guilty in the brutal stabbing death of a 19-year-old college.
Jurors heard closing arguments in the murder trial of Robert John Martinez in the 103rd State District Court on Monday morning.
It took jurors less than an hour to return with a guilty verdict.
Martinez is just one of six people arrested in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Texas State Technical College student Angel Perez.
San Benito investigators said Martinez and five other men attacked Perez in November.
Perez was reportedly with two men who Martinez and other believed were burglarizing cars in their neighborhood.
The suspects claimed police were charging the wrong people.
Family members said Perez had battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma for 18 months and was in remission for about two months before he died.
Sentencing for Martinez is set for Tuesday morning where he faces five to 99 years in prison.
