Jury selection starts for Harlingen karate instructor

Carlos Levon Anderson appeared upset in the courtroom Monday morning.

The Harlingen karate instructor who is facing felony charges, refused to speak to the media.

According to Harlingen police, Anderson assaulted three teens.

A Cameron County grand jury indicted him back in July 2010 on charges of indecency with a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of a child.

The alleged victims were between 14 and 17 years old at the time when the alleged crimes took place.

The charges are second degree felonies.

Jury selection got underway in the 107th District Court on Monday, ahead of arguments from both sides in the case.

If convicted, Anderson faces two to twenty years in prison on each count.
