Keys stolen, victim spends $1,000 getting safety back

A local business manager gets his key chain stolen in a matter of seconds by one of his customers.
That key chain had the keys to his six Liberty Tax Service offices, car and home.
"Pretty much my life was on that key chain so I had to change everything including my vehicle," David Perez said.
Since the incident Thursday morning, Perez has changed all of the locks but that cost him around $1,000.
It started as a typical morning for Perez as he walked into his Liberty Tax Service on Tyler Avenue in Harlingen and immediately got to work offering a customer help with a general tax form.
In the process of printing out a copy, the man took Perez's keys that were on the desk.
Perez did not realize his keychain was missing until the man was gone.
"You don't want to think somebody stole your keys I mean that's not something I think about," Perez said. "At least I don't think negatively of people so I didn't want to believe that and until said let me look at the video and I started seeing and wow."
The man stole the keys literally behind Perez's back.
Perez has filed a report with the Harlingen Police Department.
Perez tells Action 4 the man is around 6'0, light skin and in his mid 50's.
