Kidnapped Weslaco woman escapes captors, teen arrested

Weslaco Police continue investigating the aggravated kidnapping of a female employee at a used car sales lot on Friday.

Officers first responded to Rudy TMs Auto Sales on the Frontage Road and Westgate Drive on Friday afternoon.

They said several men walked into the car lot between 1 and 2 p.m., and took a female employee by force.

Police said at least one of the men was armed with a handgun.

Later in the day, the kidnappers contacted the family demanding a ransom in exchange for her freedom.

On Saturday morning, the woman was able to escape her captors in the community of San Carlos, east of Edinburg.

She rushed to a neighbor TMs home where she was able to call police for help.

Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs deputies and Weslaco Police responded to the call.

They then arrested a teen at the scene.

The woman was treated for minor injuries.

Weslaco Police said they continue investigating and will release more information a later time.
