Authorities are investigating a kidnapping that ended with a woman escaping from a home and the man who held her against her will remains at large.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to FM 493 and Mile 4 North just after 2 p.m. Monday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a woman in her 50s escaped from a house with her mouth still duct taped.
A Good Samaritan was driving by and stopped to help the woman.
Authorities shut down FM 493 in both directions and set up a perimeter to search for the man who kidnapped her.
The house is located on an busy area of FM 493 just minutes north of the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge.
Authorities reopened the highway after investigators were not able to find him.
Interim Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said the woman was kidnapped in McAllen and that the McAllen Police Deaprtment would be taking over the case.
Investigators said the woman is safe and sound.
A motive is not clear but McAllen police will continue the investigation.
