A Harlingen man is behind bars after he was allegedly caught having sex with an underage girl inside his pickup truck.
La Feria police arrested 26-year-old Vicente Montemayor on a sexual assault of a child charge early Monday morning.
A police officer out on patrol saw a pickup truck parked behind the TSI Laboratories building off Kansas City Road around 3 a.m. Monday.
The officer found Montemayor having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
When the officer spoke to them, the teen girl said Montemayor had forced himself onto her.
La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia spoke to Action 4 News about the investigation.
"The child made an outcry to the patrol officer that he forced himself on her, Chief Garcia said. We've learned that he picked her up off the street in the Harlingen area. we don't know how long she was with him."
Garcia said at the time of the arrest, Montemayor admitted to having drank several beers and pleaded with the officer to not arrest him.
Montemayor appeared before a judge where he was issued a $20,000 dollar bond.
As for the 14-year-old girl, she was taken to Monica's House for further interviews and examination.
Chief Garcia said police believe this was the first time that Montemayor had sexual contact with the girl.
