A La Paloma man is behind bars after he allegedly molested a teenage girl before he and his family went to church.

Cameron County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Omar Mendez Perez on an indecency with a chlid charge on Thursday.

Court records obtained by Action 4 News show that the incident happened at Perez's home of Military Highway back in October.

Deputies allege that a 14-year-old woke up to find Perez molesting her.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but records show the girl knew Perez and was at his family's home for a sleepover.

Perez allegedly told deputies that he and wife had gone to the Chapparal Night Club in Brownsville the night before.

The La Paloma man claimed he was still drunk in the morning and was getting ready to go to church.

Perez allegedly told deputies that he saw the girl's leg sticking out from under the sheets and then started to touch her.

The girl confronted Perez and told his wife and daughter about what happened prompting an investigation.

Perez allegedly told deputies that he knew it was wrong but has a drinking problem, stress and marital problems.

The La Paloma man appeared before a Cameron County Magistrate Court Judge where he was issued a $25,000 bond.
