The Rio Grande Valley is expected to be hit by a big winter blast early Tuesday morning. Here's a list of school closures and delays.:

Cameron County

Santa Maria ISD

School closure for Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Santa Maria ISD will resume operations and regular hours on Thursday, January 18, 2018.

Region One ESC

All Region One ESC Offices, including the Brownsville and Laredo Extension Offices, will have a delayed start time on Wednesday, January 17. Region One Offices will open at 9:00 a.m. and all scheduled workshops and conferences will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Mid Valley Academy

Mid Valley Academy Charter District High Schools in McAllen-Mercedes-San Benito will be closed tomorrow, January 17th. Classes will resume at regular times on Thursday, January 18th.

IDEA Public Schools Rio Grande Valley:

All IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley will operate on a delayed start on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. All staff should report to their campus at 9 a.m., and students will begin school at 10 a.m. The Pre-K morning session will operate from 10:00 a.m. until the regularly scheduled dismissal time. We encourage you to continue to check social media or the IDEA website for weather updates.

Kenmont Montessori School in Brownsville:

Kenmont Montessori School in Brownsville will be closed Wednesday due to inclement weather.

St. Alban's Episcopal Day School (Harlingen):

St. Alban's Episcopal Day School in Harlingen will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday the 17th).

TSTC Harlingen:

TSTC will CLOSE the Harlingen campus beginning at 3 p.m. today (Tuesday) and remain closed through Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Harmony Public Schools:

Harmony School of Innovation Brownsville and Harmony Science Academy Brownsville will be closed on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 due to the forecasted cold and freezing temperatures. The safety of our students, families, and staff is our number one priority. Classes are to resume at regular scheduled time on Thursday, January 18, 2018 until further notice. Any additional updates will be communicated to our Harmony families through our school messenger system, school website and school's Facebook page.

Santa Rosa ISD:

Due to weather conditions tonight and tomorrow, Santa Rosa ISD has cancelled classes for Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Classes will resume at the regular time on Thursday, January 18, 2018

La Feria ISD:

Due to hazardous weather/road conditions, all La Feria ISD schools, facilities, and offices will be closed Wednesday, January 17, 2018. At this time, classes are scheduled to resume at regular time on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Updates, if warranted, will be posted on social media and the district website.

Brownsville ISD:

Brownsville ISD has canceled all classes for Wednesday, Jan. 17. District offices will also be closed. Classes will resume on Thursday, however, will be delayed. Elementary schools will begin at 10:30 a.m. with bus pickup at 9:45 a.m. Middle schools will begin at 10 a.m. with bus pickup at 9 a.m. High school classes will begin at 11:15 a.m. with bus pickup starting at 10:30 a.m.

All district employees will need to report to their assignments at their regularly scheduled hours on Thursday. Follow the district on Facebook and Twitter for more info.

Harlingen CISD:

All schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 17 due to inclement weather, sub-freezing temperatures and predicted dangerous driving conditions. Classes are scheduled to resume on Thursday, January 18, as per the district’s normal hours of operation. This instructional day will be made up on February 19th. Hidalgo County

TSC

Due to the inclement weather, Texas Southmost College will be closed as of Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Tuesday evening classes are canceled.

TSC will be closed on Jan. 17. The college will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 18 for regular business hours and classes.

PSJA ISD:

As a result of the possible hazardous driving conditions during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, PSJA ISD will be delaying school by 1-hour.

Entry times will be as follows:

  • Middle Schools: 8:30 am
  • Elementary Schools: 9:00 am
  • High Schools: 9:30 am

Please keep in mind that during inclement weather, buses will go through each street for pickup and drop-off. Bus routes will be delayed 1-hour as well.

For employees, please verify entry time with your supervisor as times may vary based on duty.

La Joya ISD

La Joya Independent School District will operate on a delayed school start time tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17th due to the inclement weather.

  • All Elementary schools will begin at 9:00 AM
  • All middle schools will begin at 9:30 AM
  • All high schools will begin at 10:00 AM.
  • Buses will pick up 30 minutes before the start of the delayed time.
  • All staff and employees are to report to work at regular time.

Hidalgo County Head Start

Hidalgo County Head Start has delayed Wednesday start times to 9:45 a.m.

  • Staff will report at 8:00 a.m.
  • Buses will start at 9:00 a.m.

Mercedes ISD:

Mercedes ISD will have a delayed start on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

  • Due to cold weather classes will begin at 9:00 am for students
  • Buses will be delayed by 1 hour
  • Staff must report by 8:00 am

STC:

Due to weather projections for the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas College (STC) announces that all campuses will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. This time is designated for all students, faculty and staff. Any change of business hours and class schedules can be checked on the STC RAVE Emergency System, general email, and social media.

Donna ISD:

The Donna Independent School District will start all classes one hour later than usual tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 due to inclement weather.

Reporting times are as follows:

  • Starting time at all elementary schools will be at 8:45 a.m.
  • Starting time at all secondary schools will be at 9:30 a.m.
  • Buses will run their routes one hour later than usual.
  • Staff reporting time will be 30 minutes later than your usual schedule. Students and staff are encouraged to dress warm tomorrow, bundle up!

Mid Valley Academy

Mid Valley Academy Charter District High Schools in McAllen-Mercedes-San Benito will be closed tomorrow, January 17th. Classes will resume at regular times on Thursday, January 18th.

Valley View ISD:

Valley View ISD will delay classes Wednesday.

  • Elementary and 5th grade campus will start at 9:30 a.m.
  • Junior High and Early College will start at 10:00 a.m.
  • High School campuses will start time at 10:30 a.m.
  • Bus pick up times will start 30 minutes prior

Mission CISD:

Due to the current weather forecast and expected conditions, Mission CISD officials are cancelling school for Wednesday, January 17, 2018. All Mission CISD schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday the 17th. The Mission CISD Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Wednesday is also being cancelled and will be rescheduled for the following week.

UPDATE: Due to improvements in weather conditions and forecasts, officials at Mission CISD have decided to follow a regular school and office schedule for all Mission CISD schools for Thursday, January 18, 2018. On Tuesday, the district had indicated there would be a delayed start on Thursday. This is no longer the case. All Mission CISD employees should report to work at their normal times on Thursday. Bus routes and schools will start on time, Thursday, January 18.

Weslaco ISD:

Weslaco ISD has been monitoring the weather conditions and has decided to delay the start of the instructional school day on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 as follows:

  • Elementary Schools will start at 9:00 a.m.
  • Middle Schools will start at 8:45 a.m.
  • High Schools will start at 9:15 a.m.

Buses will run 45 minutes behind the normal route schedule for the safety of students.

Vanguard Academy:

Due to the inclement weather and icy conditions Vanguard Academy campuses in Alamo, Pharr and Edinburg will be cancelling classes for tomorrow Wednesday, January 17, 2018 and will resume regular class start time on Thursday, January 18 at 8 AM.

IDEA Public Schools Rio Grande Valley:

All IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley will operate on a delayed start on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. All staff should report to their campus at 9 a.m., and students will begin school at 10 a.m. The Pre-K morning session will operate from 10:00 a.m. until the regularly scheduled dismissal time. McAllen ISD:

McAllen ISD has been monitoring weather reports throughout the day and has determined that a delayed start time for Wednesday, Jan. 17, is in the best interest of our students and staff. Please follow the schedule below.

Instruction begins:

  • Elementary - 9:30 a.m.
  • Middle Schools - 9:40 a.m.
  • High Schools - 9:50 a.m.
  • Bus pick up times will run 90 minutes behind regular schedule.

Work day begins:

  • Campus Staff - 8:30 a.m.

Conditions are expected to improve throughout the day, so release time will remain the same.

Edcouch-Elsa ISD:

Due to inclement weather forecast, all classes have been canceled for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 18, 2018, following a late start schedule.

On Thursday, January 18, 2018, all Bus routes will begin one hour later than normal. Late bus pick-up will also be available for students that miss the first bus. Parents should call their child’s school if transportation is needed.

  • All employees are to report to their campus or work site 30 minutes later than normal.
  • Dismissal at the end of the day will follow the regular scheduled release times for all students and employees.
  • Again, Due to inclement weather forecast, Edcouch-Elsa ISD has cancelled classes on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Sharyland ISD:

Due to inclement weather, Sharyland ISD will have a delayed start tomorrow Wednesday January 17th 2018. Classes start at 10 am with no AM half-day morning Pre-K. Buses will run on a two hour delay. Please plan accordingly.

Edinburg CISD:

Edinburg CISD Alternate Student Start Times for Inclement Weather on Wednesday, January 17, 2018:

  • Elementary School Student Start Time at 9 A.M.
  • Middle School Student Start Time at 9:25 A.M.
  • High School Student Start Time at 9:50 A.M.
  • All District and Campus staff will report to work by 8:45 A.M.

ECISD Buses will begin student pickup schedules at 8:30 A.M. for elementary schools and approximately 9:00 A.M. for middle and high schools. The District will send out a District-wide voicemail message to all parents, email the schedule to all ECISD staff, post the inclement weather alternate schedule on ECISD social media, and communicate the changes with the news media outlets.

Willacy County

Lasara ISD:

Lasara ISD will delay school on Wednesday.

  • Teachers and Staff will report at 9:00 a.m. and students at 10:00 a.m.
  • Bus routes will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Raymondville ISD:

In anticipation of potentially hazardous driving conditions due to expected precipitation and freezing temperatures overnight, all campuses of Raymondville ISD will have a delayed start time of 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 17th. Bus routes will be delayed by two hours.

San Perlita ISD:

No school Wednesday January 17, 2018 for San Perlita ISD. Classes will be made up on Monday February 19, 2018.
