Literacy festival offers free books to kids

It's the first skill a child needs to succeed, reading sets the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

To get kids excited to read the McAllen Junior Rotary Club is hosting a literacy and arts festival.

Open to kids of all ages, the festival will take place the McAllen Library on Nolana and 23rd Street Saturday, February 8, 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Children who attend will even receive a free new book.
