A Los Fresnos man is awaiting extradition to Kentucky after authorities learned that he was wanted for military desertion.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested 27-year-old Marco Salas on Monday.
Customs officers reported that Salas walked from Matamoros at the Gateway International Bridge.
A routine background check revealed that Salas had an outstanding warrant for military desertion from the U.S. Army.
Details were not immediately available but records show that the warrant was issued out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Salas remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail where he awaits extradition.
