A love triangle has ended with criminal charges in Monte Alto.

The Hidalgo County Fire Marshall's Office investigators arrested Rigoberto Rangel on an arson charge on Friday.

The 37-year-old La Villa man is accused of trying to burn down a man's house in Monte Alto last week.

Investigators said Rangel and the other man were seeing the same woman.

Hidalgo County Fire Marshal Juan Martinez said Rangel poured gasoline around his rival's home and tried to burn it down.

Monte Alto firefighters were able to put out the fire and no injuries were reported.

Fire Marshal Martinez reported that investigators were able to link Rangel to the intentionally-set fire.

Court records show that Rangel has a previous criminal history for a DWI back in July 2001.

Rangel was released from the Hidalgo County Jail on Monday after posting a $7,500 bond.
