A Lyford man is spending the next two years in prison after he was found guilty of sexting and having improper sexual contact with a teenage girl.
The Willacy County District Attorney TMs Office reported that 24-year-old Rigo Bertoldo Puga was found guilty of sexual assault.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a teenage girl TMs father found explicit text messages form Puga on the girl TMs phone back in February.
The father reported what he found to the Lyford Police Department.
The girl told authorities that he had improper sexual contact with Puga on at least two occasions.
A judge sentenced Puga to two years in prison and ordered that he not have contact with the victim.
Puga must also register as a convicted sex offender.
Willacy County District Attorney Bernard Ammerman said his office will continue to aggressively prosecute sex crimes.
