Three people and a baby are fighting for their lives after a major auto accident on the U.S. Highway 281 just south of Freddy Gonzalez Drive.
Edinburg Police Lt. Oscar Trevio told Action 4 News that there could be a possible fatality, but that is unclear at this time.
An air care helicopter was called in to the accident, but the details are still coming in.
Investigators said it was a two-car accident.
Police said a sedan was traveling slowly on the middle lane of the highway.
A black Chevrolet truck was passing another vehicle and rear-ended the sedan.
Four people were inside the sedan but Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snyder said three people were trapped in the wreck.
Rescuers had to use Jaws of Life to remove the doors and roof to get them out the car.
All four suffered severe injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Police said two adults are reported in serious condition while a woman and a baby are in crtical condition.
Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
