Male victims punched, scratched by Harlingen women
Two Harlingen women were taken into custody for beating their significant others.
Both assaults happened on Thursday afternoon.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Bluebonnet Drive around 3:30 p.m. after they received a domestic disturbance call.
The victim told authorities that his girlfriend, Elmita Rodriguez had punched him.
He said Elmita Rodriguez struck him in the face with a closed fist, causing pain and injury to his lip.
Rodriguez was taken to the city jail and charged with Assault Family Violence.
The 31-year-old TMs bond was set at $5,750.
Three hours later, authorities received another domestic disturbance call.
An officer was dispatched to a home on the 3000 block of Vista Verde Circle South.
A man said that he and his wife, Stephanie Huerta, had gotten into a verbal argument.
He told authorities that Huerta became upset when he refused to leave the house.
The husband said she scratched him and then punched him on the back of the head.
Harlingen police said he suffered pain and bodily injury.
Huerta was also charged with Assault Family Violence and given a $1,000 bond.
