Man arrested for assaulting girl, dragging her out of home

William Hayes // Cameron County Inmates

A Brownsville man was arrested after he allegedly dragged a 16-year-old girl out of a home and had a sexual encounter with her.

William Hayes was arrested on Friday, October 11 for the alleged crime.

According to an affidavit obtained by Action 4 News, an argument started when 18-year-old Hayes threw the girl TMs cell phone out of the car window because he did not want either of them to have a cell phone if they were going to be living together.

The argument continued and the girl fell to the ground. That is when Hayes pushed her down and then grabbed her ankles, according to authorities.

She told authorities she was forcefully dragged out of her home, which caused pain and discomfort to her ankles and elbows as they dragged on the floor.

The girl called authorities and when they arrived, she told them about a previous encounter where Hayes allegedly wanted to perform sexual acts she did not consent to.

Hayes TM bond was set at $25,000 for the sexual assault and $2,500 for assault family violence.
