Man arrested for capital murder after Weslaco home invasion
Brandon Gonzalez was arraigned on capital murder charges for his involvment in the death of a 62-year-old man.
Jose Manuel Veraza was shot and killed during a home invasion on Mile 5 and Midway Road in Weslaco earlier this week.
Gonzalez was arrested on Friday, but five other suspects remain at large.
Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Deputies were first dispatched to the residence in reference to an aggravated robbery. There, they found Veraza with a gunshot wound to his head inside a white Chevy.
Investigators found two Mission Police Department jackets with the word "raid" on the back at the scene.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Deputies observed a Volkswagen Jetta, which belong to the suspects of the aggravated robbery.
The aggravated robbery was later reclassified as capital murder.
Gonzalez allegedly provided sheriff investigators with a statement confessing his involvement in the crime.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Department is working to locate the other suspects in the case.
Gonzalez was denied bond.
