An Alton man is behind bars after he allegedly molested a child at a South Padre Island hotel.

South Padre Island police arrested 41-year-old Juan Antonio Zuniga over the weekend.

The Alton man is accused of indecency with a child by contact.

Investigators are not releasing man details about but Action 4 News obtained a copy of the police report.

The report shows that the incident happened at the Pearl South Padre hotel off Padre Boulevard.

It's not clear how Zuniga came into contact with the child but a police officer filed public intoxication and indecency with a child charges against him.

Hotel officials declined to comment but described the arrest as an "isolated incident" and that the hotel has sufficient security.

Zuniga remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $25,000 dollar bond.

Court records show that Zuniga has gone by the nickname "Killer" and has previous arrests between June 1986 to April 2012 for assault, DWI, aggravated assault, marijuana and criminal trespass.
