Man arrested, linked to string of robberies in Brownsville

      A Port Isabel man is behind bars after being arrested and linked to a string of robberies in Brownsville.

      U.S. deputy marshals arrested 39-year-old Rodney Torres at a home off South Longoria Street in Port Isabel on Wednesday.

      Brownsville police said Torres is the suspect in the Christmas Eve robbery of a Valero gas station off Central Boulevard.

      While in custody, Torres allegedly implicated himself in four other robberies that took place in Brownsville in late December.

      Brownsville police charged Torres with a total of five counts of aggravated robbery.

      The 39-year-old man appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning where he was given $250,000 dollars in bonds.
