A Brownsville man is behind bars after getting into an argument about being unemployed and causing injury to a child, according to authorities.
Hugo Garcia was arrested on Friday around 5:35 p.m. after the Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department was dispatched to his home on the 2000 block of Nanette Ave.
The argument between him and his wife allegedly started over being unemployed.
That is when Garcia decided he would move to California to live with his mother, according to an affidavit obtained by Action 4 News.
When his wife could not find his luggage bag, he allegedly pushed her on the chest area.
According to documents, their 12-year-old son tried to intervene, but was pushed against a wall, resulting in him hitting the corner edge of the wall.
She was able to escape and contacted her pastor about the incident, documents say.
Garcia TMs wife allegedly told authorities he had been depressed about not having a job to support his family.
Garcia was arrested on charges of assault family violence and injury to a child.
His bond was set at $10,000.
