A man is behind bars after he admitted to giving alcohol to minors.
San Benito police arrested Ivan Chavez after a tip that parents saw their runaway daughter in a black Nissan pickup truck.
The incident happened near the 300 block of S. Oscar Williams early Sunday morning
According to police, 23-year-old Chavez was accompanied by five minors in the truck.
The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol from the vehicle.
Chavez told police that the group were at a club in McAllen earlier that evening.
San Benito police told Action 4 News that Chavez denied buying alcohol for three of the underage minors.
Police arrested Chavez for three counts of purchasing/furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Authorities released the three juveniles to their parents and charged them for possession.
Justice of the Peace Judge David Garza arraigned Chavez and set a $12,000 bond.
