A Harlingen man and woman are facing criminal charges after a police officer allegedly caught them in an act of prostitution.
Combes police arrested 66-year-old Yraias Ruiz Salas and 53-year-old Maria Rosalinda Tovar on Tuesday afternoon.
Court records show that a police officer was patrolling east of Expressway 77 when he saw a white Ford Ranger parked off Nixon Road and FM 508.
The officer pulled up to the pickup truck and saw Salas running while Tovar was naked and putting her clothes on.
Tovar told the officer the Salas was going to pay her $20 dollars for sexual favors.
The officer charged Salas with promotion of prostitution.
Tovar was charged with prostitution and possession of marijuana after the officer learned she had a small amount of the drug in her purse.
Cameron County Jail records show that Salas posted bond on Wednesday while Tovar remains in custody.
