Authorities have upgraded criminal charges against a man who disregarding a yield sign causing a rollover that claimed the life of an elderly woman in Harlingen.
The accident happened off of South H Street and West Buchanan Avenue around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that 20-year-old Troy Mathew Nahaie Soria was driving 2001 Chevy Suburban heading northbound on South H Street.
Soria allegedly disregarded a yield sign and slammed into a Toyota Van, forcing the van to flip over.
An adult female driver, an elderly adult male passenger and an elderly adult female passenger were all inside the van.
All three sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.
The elderly female, identified as 84-year-old Roberta Garza from Harlingen was critically injured.
Garza died from her injuries on Wednesday prompting investigators to upgrade charges against Soria.
Another vehicle was also involved in this accident but the driver in that car was not seriously injured.
Officers initially charged Soria with several traffic violations and released him on $763 cash bond.
After learning there was a warrant out for his arrest on a manslaughter charge, Soria turned himself into Harlingen police Thursday afternoon.
Bond was set at $75,000.
