Man chases children on bikes for being 'bullies'

      Cameron County Jail: Robert Stephens

A driver was arrested after he struck two children on their bicycles, according to Combes police.

When Robert Stephens was taken into custody, he told authorities he followed the kids in his car because they were bullying his children.

An elementary principal contacted police when the children said they were being chased down by the man in a blue and gray vehicle.

During an interview, one child said Stephens struck the rear tire of his bike, causing him to fall down and cut his left arm.

The other child said he feared the driver was going to run over and kill him after his back bike tire was hit.

Both children told police the driver threatened them by saying, I am going to kill you.

Stephens was charged with Injury to a Child/Reckless Bodily Injury, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Terroristic Threat.
