A man was pronounced dead at the scene after he crashed into a utility pole in Edinburg.
The crash happened northbound off of the Interstate 69 frontage road.
Edinburg police said that Baldemar de la Pea lost control of his vehicle near the Monte Cristo exit and crashed into a pole around 2 p.m.
The 21-year-old was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to authorities.
Police said it was a single vehicle accident.
The City of Edinburg released a statement saying the Monte Cristo Road exit and Interstate 69 frontage road are closed to traffic.
Drivers are asked to find an alternative route.
