Man escapes after being attacked with metal pipe

A man is jailed after he allegedly used a metal pipe to attack the victim.

Santos Cisneros Silva was arrested at his home on the 300 block of north Iowa Avenue in Brownsville Sunday evening.

The victim said he was walking along the 400 block of north Iowa Avenue when Silva got out of a Ford Taurus, trying to hit his head with a metal pipe.

Police said 32-year-old Silva hit the victim on his forearm as he tried to block the hit.

The victim fled the scene and called a friend for help.

The pair came in contact with a police officer a short time later on the 3800 block of Boca Chica Boulevard.

Brownsville police arrested and charged Silva with resisting arrest for struggling with an officer.

Silva was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The pipe used in the attack was taken in as evidence.

Authorities said the victim did suffer injuries, but they were non-life threatening.

Silva TMs bond was set at $22,000.
