Man faces additional sexual assault charge after 2nd family member comes forward
Cameron County Chief Deputy Gus Reyna said Friday a Cameron County man now faces an additional charge after a second family member accused him of sexual assault.
Juan Enrique De La Cruz, 57, surrendered to investigators on Wednesday after he reportedly impregnated a family member.
De La Cruz is now charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony, after a second family member came forward, according to Reyna.
Reyna says the second family member made an outcry of sexual assault to Child Protective Services in June.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says both victims claim to have been abused for years.
A Justice of the Peace set bond at $250,000 for each charge.
The Cameron County Sheriff's Office continues to look into the possibility of more victims, Reyna said.
"Based on the fact that we have two charges on him for two separate incidents, we hope if there is anyone else that is a victim, we can apply additional charges to him-- hopefully before he bails," Reyna said at a press conference Friday.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the Cameron County Sheriff's Office at 956-364-7606.
