A man is behind bars after authorities said he was intoxicated when he drove into a telephone pole, splitting it in half.
Authorities responded to the crash near Sandra Street in San Juan.
San Juan police responded to the scene of the crash where they found a vehicle unoccupied, which prompt them to search for the driver.
The driver was found nearby, and authorities said his blood alcohol content was three times past the legal limit to be driving.
The driver was booked at the city jail after being arrested on a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge.
Police said this is his second DWI charge.
His name has not yet been released, and no injuries are currently being reported.
