Man gets 70 years in prison for Palmview teen's death

      Suspect: Javier Francisco Gonzalez

A man will spend the next 70 years in prison for the June 2011 death of a Palmview teenager.

Jurors found Javier Francisco Gonzalez guilty of first degree murder for the death of 16 year-old Jonathon Ramos.

Gonzalez was sentenced to 70 years in prison late Friday afternoon.

Hidalgo County Sheriff deputies responded to a hit and run near Scott Lane and Daniel Roads near Palmview back on June 26, 2011.

Witnesses told investigators that Gonzalez drove by a house Ramos was staying, taunting him.

Ramos went outside and the two got into an argument that ended after Gonzalez allegedly hit Ramos with his van.
