A man convicted of raping a boy he met on-line will spend the next five years in prison as part of a plea agreement.
George Tinoco appeared for sentencing before Judge Israel Ramon, Jr. in the 430th State District Court on Thursday morning.
Judge Ramon sentenced Tinoco to five years in prison and also ordered that he register as a convicted sex offender for life.
Court records show that Tinoco pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child back in October.
McAllen police originally arrested Tinoco back in January.
Tinoco met a 12-year-old boy on the dating website Zoosk and took him to a hotel in Weslaco where they had sex.
The two allegedly kept in touch through Facebook and a cell phone.
The boy later made an outcry to his step mother on New Year's Eve prompting an investigation.
