A man held his girlfriend at knifepoint last night, according to police.
According to Edinburg police, Elude Perez Jr. forced his way into the victim TMs apartment on the 200 block of South 25th street in Edinburg.
He then held a knife up to her throat and forced her to get into his car, according to police.
Perez drove her to his relative TMs home located on the 500 block of Westgate.
The victim then took off running on foot to escape captivity and began ringing doorbells and banging on doors in hopes someone would help her.
Perez allegedly took the victim out of her home.
When Perez arrived at his final destination, the victim took off on foot and landed on the path of a Weslaco police officer.
The police officer in the area answered her cry for help.
If you ever find yourself becoming the victim of a possible kidnapping the best thing to do is to not get into the vehicle with the aggressor. Whether you know them or not, things normally don TMt turn out well. Do whatever you have to do to get away, Lt. Oscar Trevino said.
The perpetrator has chosen to remain silent during the investigation, so they are not sure what Perez TMs intentions were.
Trevino said Perez does not have a criminal history, and there are no reports of violence at the address where he drove the victim to.
Perez has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and assault; Perez relatives at the home he drove the victim to are not expected to be charged.
His bond is set at $300,000.
