A man has jumped from the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway

A man is rushed to Valley Regional Hospital after jumping from the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.

A Cameron County Constable told Action 4 News a person witnessed a Hispanic male jump from the peak of the bridge around 12 p.m. Wednesday and waved down a Port Isabel police officer.

Investigators said the unidentified man driving a black Chevrolet Blazer parked his SUV at the highest point of the bridge, got out of the vehicle and jumped into the Laguna Madre.

The U.S. Coast Guard moved in to recover the body and learned the man was still breathing.

EMS rushed the man to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.

His condition is unknown.

Authorities did find alcoholic beverages in the man TMs truck and believe he could have been drinking at the time.

No suicide note was found.

His identity will be released once the family has been notified.
