Man rams officer with stolen bicycle on UTB campus

UTB Police: David Guajardo

A man was arrested at the University of Texas Brownsville campus after he stole a bicycle and injured a police officer.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a security guard saw David Guajardo take a bike from the Gym Annex bicycle rack.

A police officer was able to track Guajardo down a short while late and ordered him to stop.

UTB police said Guajardo refused to stop and purposely struck the officer with the bike.

The officer suffered a knee injury as he was knocked to the ground.

Guajardo continued to flee, but the security guard was able to catch up to him and take him into custody.

Guajardo was given a $17,850 bond.
