Man rescued after being kidnapped from flea market

Authorities are investigating a flea market kidnapping that ended with the victim being rescued and two suspects behind bars.

It all happened outside a dance hall at the Alamo Flea Market off Expressway 83 early Monday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a 23-year-old Brownsville man was at the dance hall and kidnapped shortly after midnight Monday.

Police said the two suspects took the man against his will to San Juan where they tried to rob him but the victim escaped and ran to a convenience store to call for help.

The victim was able to provide a good description of his two kidnappers and their vehicle.

San Juan police said that officers found the vehicle and got into a chase with the suspects but were able to take both of them into custody.

Investigators said the two suspects were armed with pellet guns that looked like real guns in the dark.

Police believe the two men were drinking at the dance hall and targeted the victim because they saw him with a large amount of cash.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the suspects at this time but they are expected to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
