There has finally been justice for a father viciously bludgeoned to death over a television.

Now, his 14 children can rest assured the person who killed their father, Manuel Pena, will spend life behind bars.

The San Benito man was found guilty by a jury and has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2009 murder of Ramon Pinon.

Pinon was bedridden when he was beaten to his death over a 19 inch television, a saw, a stereo and a few other items, the Cameron County District Attorney TMs office says.

The home was ransacked for valuables before Pinon's home-health provider found him dead the following morning.

The 85-year-old man was defenseless at the time of the murder, the DA TMs office said.

Ramon's children gathered at their father's home where the murder took place five years ago.

It really sunk in once we left the courtroom and we were alone to convince as a family and thank God, Pinon TMs daughter Nancy Garcia said.

Letty Pereira, one of Pinon's 14 children and a school teacher said, Pinon was a good man, simple but honest, hard-working, unselfish, with a caring heart and wonderful attitude towards life| All our core beliefs and strengths, truths even, were built around this one man.

The family added they were all grateful for the assistant district attorneys Ismael Hinojosa and Brent Gimble who prosecuted the case.

Judge Benjamin Euresti sentenced Pena to life in prison without the possibility for parole.
