Man shoots daughter in the eye after mistaking her for intruder

Authorities are investigating an incident where a man accidentally shot his daughter in the eye after mistaking her for an intruder.

It all happened at the Conquistador Apartments off the 300 block of Billy Mitchell Boulevard on Thursday evening.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the man thought his daughter TMs boyfriend was breaking into his home.

That TMs when he pulled out his gun and pulled the trigger shooting her in her right eye.

Brownsville police said the 27-year-old woman is in stable condition at a hospital in San Antonio.

Investigators said the woman tried to come back in through the window of her dad TMs apartment to pick up some of her belongings.

Her dad allegedly told her all of her belongings were thrown in the trash.

But the 27-year-old didn't listen and decided to crawl in through the window.

"He just heard a noise opened the door and took a shot went and got his gun and opened the door and took a shot, said Brownsville Police Officer Billy Killebrew.

The 55-year-old father immediately called 911 after the shooting.

The Brownsville man told police that he had accidentally shot his daughter with his .22 caliber gun.

Nobody answered the door of the apartment on Friday but police said the man is fully co-operating with police.

Brownsville police says no one has been charged and no arrests have been made.

The case remains under investigation but there could be charges filed on both the father and daughter.
