      Man shops at flea market with counterfeit $100's

      Brownsville Police Department: Omar Trevino

      A man was arrested by Brownsville police after he used counterfeit money at the flea market.

      Vendors called police Saturday morning to report the crime. They said a man was buying several items with possible fake $100 bills.

      A security officer at the market took the man, identified as Omar Trevino, into custody.

      Trevino was found in possession of several $100 bills.

      The 21-year-old was then taken to the police station for questioning.

      Police said Trevino knew the money was counterfeit.

      He was charged with nine counts of forgery and given a $20,000 bond for each count.

      The case remains under investigation.
