Man shot north of Donna in possible case of mistaken identity

Authorities are looking for three suspects after a man was shot north of Donna late Wednesday morning.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevio told Action 4 News that it all happened near the intersection of Mile 10 North and FM 493 shortly before noon.

Sheriff Trevio said a man was working on a trench when three men pulled over to asked him if his name was "Phillip."

The man reportedly said "no" and went back to working on trench.

The three men allegedly responded by shooting the man injuring him on the upper shoulder.

Sheriff Trevio said the man didn't know he was shot but later felt a "burning" sensation.

Paramedics rushed the man to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff's deputies put an alert for a red Pontiac Grand Prix with three men.

The driver was reportedly wearing a green hoodie sweater.

All three me were described as being clean cut.
