A Harlingen man is behind bars after police allegedly saw him grab a woman by her shoulder with one hand and moved to choke her with the other hand.
According to the police report, authorities responded to a disturbance call, and when they arrived they saw a woman crying.
Police arrested Mario Wilfredo Vidal around 12:42 a.m. on Thursday.
According to police, the 27-year-old resisted arrest by stiffening and pulling his arms away.
Vidal appeared before a magistrate judge where he was given a $4,200 for resisting arrest and allowed to do community service for the assault.
