Man wanted after murder weapon found hidden under doghouse

Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a Weslaco man after a gun used in a recent murder was found hidden under a doghouse in his yard.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for 23-year-old Juan Martin Hernandez, Jr. in connection to the La Puerta Negra bar murder.

The gunman and his girlfriend were both arrested but deputies raided Hernandez's home on Lopez Street in Weslaco on Tuesday morning in search of the murder weapon.

Investigators reported finding .40 caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun hidden under a doghouse in Lopez's yard.

Deputies believe that Hernandez hid the gun there and is now wanted for questioning.

Investigators reported that Hernandez is also wanted in a misdemeanor assault case and back due child support.

Court records show that Hernandez had a previous arrest for DWI in Donna back in 2008.
