Man with knife demands reward for returning cell phone

A Harlingen man was arrested for disorderly conduct and displaying a weapon.

Juan Orlando Gonzalez allegedly made the assault threat on Thursday, June 27.

Gonzalez was meeting the victim after he had a cell phone that belonged to her.

According to the victim, she lost the cell phone and met Gonzalez to recover it.

The 43-year-old then pulled up his shirt and allegedly threatened her with a knife because she refused to pay him a reward for returning her the phone.

Gonzalez then took off on foot after the victim told him police were notified.

Harlingen police arrested Gonzalez on the 1800 block of West Tyler.

The woman and her two friends were safe.

His bond was set at $2,000 for the Class B Misdemeanor.
