Man with ~Scream TM mask and black robe robs pharmacy

A man wearing a mask as seen in the horror movie Scream is behind bars after breaking into and looting a Harlingen pharmacy.

Caught on camera wearing a black robe and black gloves, Harlingen police said Robert James Alvarado shattered a window at the Muiz Rio Grande Pharmacy on the 1100 block of South Commerce Street.

Alvarado allegedly broke into the pharmacy at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday morning and took packages of prescription medications, but not before the pharmacy security cameras caught him on tape.

Pharmacy owner Bobby Muiz released a copy of the surveillance video to Action 4 News.

Investigators said detectives also reviewed the video and were able to see the suspect's clothing under his robe.

Police officers located Alvardo in an alley near the burglarized business.

The 21-year-old was a placed under arrest while investigators found the stolen medication his home and returned it to the pharmacy.

Alvarado is facing a state jail felony burglary of a building charge.

The 21-year-old Harlingen man remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
