Manhunt puts three McAllen schools under lockdown

Three schools are under lockdown while authorities conduct a manhunt in south McAllen.

McAllen ISD officials confirmed lockdowns at Brown Middle School, Bohnam Elementary School and Escandon Elementary School.

School district officials reported the that police notified them about a search for a suspect around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Neither the schools nor the students are not in any direct threat but the lockdowns were put in place as a precaution.

The schools are expected to begin a controlled release of students just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Students who ride the bus will be released first, followed by those students who are picked up by parents.

Extra school district police officers are at the three campuses to monitor the release.
